I believe songs are crafted, kind of like furniture. Slap together some old plywood and 2x4s and maybe you’ll have a table, but take care with style, materials, fit and finish, and your table—or your song—has a chance to be both sturdy and appealing. I dislike false rhymes and mismatched accents, and I strive for interest, wit, clarity and musicality. Sometimes my tables collapse anyway, of course.
